Sally 22nd March 2021

I first met Julia when Robert and Michael joined Collis school, and we soon became friends. We worked together for a short time when she helped out at lunchtimes. She was very proactive as a School Governor at Collis, spending time to listen to ideas and trying to implement them. She was always very interested in activities at school and in the borough. She was passionate about Junior Citizen, which was designed to keep children safe, and make them aware of different dangers in the wider world. Julia drove the school minibus, and I remember one particular trip to Chessington World of Adventures with Chris Randall, came Year 5 children. Julia thought she would take a short cut as the traffic was bad, and somehow managed to scratch the new school minibus in the process! I'm not sure we ever owned up, but we had a good giggle over it. Julia was a welcoming hostess, with endless cups of tea, and wonderful cakes, usually homemade, and never in a hurry for her guests to leave. Julia was a good friend, great company, with a memorable laugh, and always spared time for a chat.
